# Digitalizar um documento

A [digitalização do documento](/abaris/abaris/uso-do-scanner-capture/como-digitalizar-e-importar-documentos.md#para-digitalizar-um-documento) consiste na operação de transformar a imagem / documento do mundo físico para o mundo digital. Isso é feito através de scanners integrados ao Ábaris.

O documento pode, também, ser nato-digital, ou seja, ele nasceu já digital. Nesse caso, a operação de "digitalização" é substituída pela [operação de "importação"](/abaris/abaris/uso-do-scanner-capture/como-digitalizar-e-importar-documentos.md#para-importar-um-documento).

Esses são os cenários suportados pelo Ábaris:

1. **Digitalização com scanner:** transformar o papel legado em documento digital através de scanners profissionais, através do módulo de Captura do Ábaris;
2. **Importação:** fazer o upload de documentos nato-digitais ao seu acervo digital.

Através do Processamento OCR, que é o Reconhecimento Óptico de Caracteres, seu documento digitalizado ganha diversas possibilidades, como acessibilidade e pesquisas por campos, trazendo melhoria da eficiência e produtividade, além de mitigar erros.
